Stress–Strain–Time Description and Analysis of Frozen–Thawed Silty Clay under Low Stress Level

The construction of high-speed railways in cold regions needs to consider the effects freeze–thaw cycles (FTHs) on long-term deformation subgrades. However, at present, research creep characteristics frozen–thawed rocks and soils is not extensive. In limited studies soil properties, current focuses more high stress–strain–time responses, but for subgrades, inner stress usually low. This paper presents results triaxial compression tests remolded, silty clay sampled Yichun-Tieli area describes its relationship an arctan function-based mathematical model. Each test condition studied using three specimens. Frozen–thawed exhibits attenuation under low-level stress. general, from 4 FTHs 11 FTHs, mean elasticity modulus decreases first, then, increases. exerted higher than yield stress; specimens experience, time they need be deformed stably same axial deviatoric (ADS). Under ADS, stable strain 7 exceeds other two FTH conditions and, FTHs. By dissecting phenomena, it can concluded that with increasing, moisture voids reconstitute process; elastic accounts most total significantly decides extent deformation; model basically able describe, perfectly predict, clay.
